The “Music of Our Heritage” utilizes a seventeen-piece Jazz Orchestra and one to five vocalists.

Music of Our Heritage Shows Include:

  • Blues Selections
  • Gospel Music
  • Popular Tunes
  • Big Band Era favorites.
  • Patriotic Music and a special tribute to the 5 military service branches of the United States.
  • Special recognition of Wounded Warriors
  • Acknowledgment of local sponsoring organization.

 

Every show concludes with a swing version of the “Stars and Stripes” and “God Bless America.”

  •  Lighten the Spirits of our Country by performing the music of our heritage (American Hymns, Marches, and Patriotic Music).
  • Honor and celebrate the Veterans of our Country nationwide.
  • Perform Benefit Shows to raise funds for Veteran programs.
  • Honor our country by filling the gap created by The Department of Defense budget cuts that have restricted the Armed Forces Service Bands.

The “Music of Our Heritage” is available as an independent event similar to military service bands. The show can represent a specified benefit and be tailored for other specific causes.

A Show Agreement Form will be sent after we receive your Performance Request, and your request has been approved. The Show Agreement Form has a place to mark your intentions.

The show contains the same personnel, materials, but is created specifically to your event.

Mr. Combs has performed professionally throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe, opening in the early years for Les Paul and Mary Ford, The Statler Brothers and “Hee Haw” Comedian Grady Nutt. He then worked with Christian artists Bill and Gloria Gaither, Sandi Patty, First Call, TRUTH, and in 1991, served as conductor of the American Christian Television Orchestra on the ACTS network along with Wayne Watson, and International Host, Anita Bryant. He has also appeared with the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants on national television, as well as numerous shows for the Disney Corporation in Orlando, Florida.

In 2014, Mr. Combs formed the American Patriots Jazz Orchestra, consisting of former and active members of the United States Armed Forces, creating benefit shows nationwide in support of our country's 5veterans. His national office and studios are located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

About the Band

Doyle Combs is one of the nation’s pioneers in the field of sacred instrumentation music and gospel jazz. Mr. Combs has conducted over 4,000 public performances, served as clinician, contracted as music conductor for numerous national and international conventions, and has been a professional music educator since 1967.

From 1980 until 1992, Mr. Combs served as Associate Professor of Music and Artist in Residence at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, heading the instrumental division of the School of Music (NASM).

For fifteen years, Mr. Combs conducted and served as CEO of JUBILATION BRASS, a gospel jazz touring orchestra. In 1993, his JUBILATION BIG BAND and the NATIONAL CHRISTIAN ORCHESTRA were premiered in Washington, D.C., with guest artists from the United States Army Band, along with United States Air Force Airmen of Note, together with national entertainer from Branson, Missouri, DINO Kartsonakis.

The American Patriots Jazz Orchestra is a combined gathering of premier military musicians who have represented the best of our armed forces throughout America, Desert Storm, and the world.

The performing musicians of the American Patriots Jazz Orchestra are mostly former and active members of the United States Armed Forces. With Colorado Springs, Colorado, the home of the Air Force Academy, most members were assigned to the Air Force Academy Band and members of the prestigious Falconnairs, the sister organization to the World Famous Airmen of Note in Washington, D.C.

During and prior to their military assignment, the band and vocal members have performed with such greats as The Temptations, The Four Freshmen, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Wayne Newton, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme, The Jimmy Dorsey Band, Doc Severenson, Nelson Riddle, Louis Belson, and Bob Hope.
